ITS Project Portfolio & Change Management has added a third project manager.

To the team, Noelle Chaltry brings her experience in managing complex projects in a higher education environment. Most recently, she held the role of project manager at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. A significant portion of that role was as scrum master and admin for the university’s instance of Salesforce.

“What truly impressed us about Noelle was her communication style and comfort with presenting complex information effectively to diverse stakeholders — a critical skill for any project manager,” said Brenda Carpen, Director of ITS Project Portfolio & Change Management. “Additionally, Noelle has hands-on experience with Smartsheet and TeamDynamix.”

One of Chaltry’s initial assignments will involve supporting Project Portfolio & Change Management’s other project managers — Alison Campbell and Bianca Bonds — on the TeamDynamix project, Carpen said.

That project entails implementing TeamDynamix (TDX) and decommissioning the ServiceNow customer support tool. ITS is targeting a summer implementation for TDX. The ServiceNow contract expires on September 6.

Project Portfolio & Change Management launched within ITS in 2021. Campbell and Bonds joined the team a year later.

“Hiring Noelle means that our team now has three project managers and three change managers,” Carpen said. “We have a lot of projects in the Portfolio that need project and change management support. I still have two more positions to fill and plan to hire those positions in the summer.”

Why did you want to join this team?

I am deeply passionate about higher education and a position where I can contribute to the positive impact that technology can bring to a campus. During the interview process, my excitement intensified as I had the opportunity to meet the team and learn more about the innovative initiatives underway and about UNC-Chapel Hill as an institution.

What excites you most about this position?

I am most excited about the opportunity to directly participate in the work of implementing technological solutions that can address critical needs and drive positive change across campus. Technology is evolving at an ever-increasing rate, and I am excited to keep learning and growing alongside my colleagues.

What do you bring to the role?

I bring a wide range of experience cultivated within the IT department of a higher education institution. My journey has encompassed the diverse positions of business manager, project manager and software developer, providing me with a multifaceted skill set tailored to the complexities of this environment. This experience allows me to approach projects from various angles, leveraging insights from each role. This understanding is integral to my approach, enabling effective project planning and communication within a diverse community, as well as the flexibility to navigate shifting or competing priorities readily.

What is your professional background?

I most recently come from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where I started out as a business manager in the IT department. In that role I was a part of the IT leadership team and managed all financial aspects of the department and played a role in the decision-making around budget and purchasing. Shortly after joining the department, I added project manager to my title and began training in that role. I was given several large projects to manage as well as being tasked with process improvement around both security and recruitment initiatives. From there I moved into a position as project manager/software developer and took on the role of Salesforce Admin, working more intensely on the enterprise systems side of things. I was also able to expand my project management work to include projects from other areas across campus as a part of that role.

What about the personal side?

I live in Wisconsin with my 22-year-old daughter and our two dogs. In my free time I love to garden, play games of the video, board and rpg variety, paint with watercolors, and play with my dogs. I also love to build with Legos, I am currently working on Rivendell.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I own a dog training business as a side project and do protection sports with my dogs for fun.
