ITS student employment opportunities

ITS student positions offer valuable real-world work experience and many positions offer flexible, remote and/or hybrid schedules.Undergraduate and graduate students from all backgrounds and majors — not just the techy ones —can find their place at ITS.

ITS units recruit in a few ways. Here’s how you can find roles:

ITS Service Desk

The Service Desk team provides support through phones, chat, web and walk-in services. At the Service Desk, students work alongside full-time professional staff and can progress to be student leads.

Information Security Office

The Information Security Office (ISO) oversees the security of the University’s electronic information. The Information Security Office is responsible for coordinating and ensuring information security across the campus in a manner that is consistent with industry best practices and UNC-Chapel Hill compliance obligations.

Educational Technologies

Educational Technologies provides instructional technology applications and integration to support the University’s academic mission, including technical support to general-purpose classrooms.

Among other tasks, Classroom Hotline students check equipment to make sure it’s in working order. To apply for a position, visit Classroom Hotline.

ResNET

ResNET employs 50 students who support the UNC-Chapel Hill residential community. Student positions include opportunities to gain professional experience in hardware and software support, events, esports, and marketing and social media. Student leadership positions are also available.

Digital Services

Digital Services offers central WordPress-based web development and hosting for the University. ITS Digital Services has work opportunities for enrolled students in the areas of design, content migration and customer support.

Communications

ITS Communications spearheads strategic communications efforts to reach faculty, staff, students and researchers across the University community. The team creates and manages content for the ITS website, ITS News, staff newsletter and social media accounts. The team also provides graphic design and UX services to ITS.
