laptop on coffee tableFollowing the UNC System directive to suspend in-person, non-essential services to help stop the spread of COVID-19, the Computer Repair Center is closed and unable to perform any hardware repairs.

Protecting the health, safety and well-being of our campus community is our first priority. We appreciate your understanding.

Who can service my computer?

While you’re off-campus and/or working remotely, you can send your computer to the appropriate vendor. Repairs, however, may take much longer than usual. Due to the very long wait times, you might want to hold onto your damaged machine if at all possible until normal operations resume.

Pointers on vendor servicing

  • Ascertain what, if any, policies your department or school has for off-campus computer service. Is it prohibited? Are there security requirements?
  • Employees must consult with their department IT support or the Service Desk prior to taking the computer to a third party.
  • Determine your warranty coverage and status by checking the vendor links.
  • In most instances, the vendor will mail you a box to send the computer to its repair center. You may incur shipping charges.
