Technology Assessment and Planning
The Technology Assessment and Planning group provides ITS and the university with a forward-looking vision, an incubator for assessing new and emerging technologies, and the structure for developing a technology roadmap to deliver on the promise of ITS and university strategic directions.
- TAP evaluates new and emerging technologies, standards, architectures, and approaches for Carolina and higher education.
- TAP maintains a comprehensive technology test and evaluation lab as an incubator for selective futures-based IT assessment projects within ITS and across campus. TAP is based on the belief that verifiable proof of concepts and demonstrable prototypes builds organizational confidence and greater enthusiasm for change across the university.
- TAP collaborates with units across ITS and the university to develop prototype applications that demonstrate and test new functionality. TAP aims to identify and prototype new technologies, architectures, and applications that support Carolina as the leading public university.
