Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) management

Service Description

This service includes a number of actions that are required to enable a Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) or set of VLANs within the UNC campus data network. This service may be limited (but usually not) to locations that UNC-CH extends the native campus network to.
  • Number assignment
  • LAN distribution
    • Access switch ports
    • Distribution switch ports
    • Core switch ports

Hours of Availability

In-service and emergency support: 24 hours a day – 7 days a week (subject to periodic scheduled downtime for system maintenance and repair) New service provisioning: Monday through Friday – Normal University working hours (excluding observed holidays)


All UNC-CH faculty, staff and students

Customer Responsibilities

Customer must submit a service requisition with specific VLAN requirements.
