Service Description
Sakai is enterprise-ready community source software called a collaborative learning environment (or CLE) that is currently being piloted at UNC-Chapel Hill.
It is currently being used by:
- Faculty who teach multiple sections but want to do so in a single course site
- Faculty who want to use the suite of group communication and collaboration tools
- Faculty/staff collaborating on a variety of projects and committees who use the site to store documents and use the collaboration tools.
Feedback from pilot users is invited to evaluate the efficacy of Sakai for teaching, research, outreach, and administrative purposes.
Hours of Availability
Available 24x7 with planned 1-hour maintenance outages each Friday evening from 9 pm-10 pm (announced on the Sakai Gateway page https://www.unc.edu/sakai/).

Customer Responsibilities
Acknowledgement and understanding that Sakai is a pilot mode. As such, every effort will be made to respond to customer requests and technical issues quickly but because Sakai is in pilot, service levels are reduced as compared to support for campus production systems.

There is no charge for faculty and staff.
