Red Hat Network (RHN) Satellite Service

Service Description

The Red Hat Network Satellite Service provides all of the features of the Red Hat Network in an "on campus" solution. It provides Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems with means and media to perform Operating System installations and patching. An administrator can also use this service to manage configuration changes and rebuild systems

Hours of Availability

This service is available 24x7, with maintenance windows from 9:00pm to midnight Monday and 9:00pm to midnight Thursday. Backups are scheduled to follow the maintenance windows, and run for up to 2 hours. The system is unavailable while backups are running. Support is Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Customer Responsibilities

The customer needs to get a license from Software Acquisitions and configure their Red Hat Systems appropriately. Support is available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to help admins to get their systems registered to the Satellite server.

How Do We Charge

The server is provided with no departmental chargeback. The user is responsible for obtaining a client license through Software Acquisitions.
