Service Description
Optic fiber leasing to off-campus locations is a service ITS provides to the campus business units where ever possible that we can negotiate a lease of dark fiber (aka fiber optic cable that does not have optical electronics attached as part of the lease agreement) from the fiber cable providers i.e. Time Warner, Level3 Communications, AT&T, Duke Networks etc. This is the preferred connectivity path to a non-contiguous occupancy due to the fact that the cost as well as bandwidth connection options are usually orders of magnitude larger with dark fiber than with Metro-Ethernet or like network transport connections back to campus.Hours of Availability
