DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)

Service Description

A customer may request either directly or (preferred) through their LAN administrator/IT director an address or set of network addresses to be dynamically provided through DHCP leases for an existing VLAN/subnet range Depending on the nature of the request and of the VLAN the addresses assigned may be public or private (i.e. a private address is not routable in the public internet).

Hours of Availability

In-service and emergency support: 24 hours a day – 7 days a week (subject to periodic scheduled downtime for system maintenance and repair) New service provisioning: Monday through Friday – Normal University working hours (excluding observed holidays)


All UNC-CH faculty, staff and students

Customer Responsibilities
