Design Lab – Print and digital media and multimedia

Service Description

The Design Labs, located on the main floor of the Undergraduate Library and within the South Campus Study Commons, are spaces designed to support the development of print and digital media and multimedia projects. The lab features various scanners, the Adobe Design Suite, and staff support for these programs during specific hours. Appointments for specific projects and class instruction are available by request. Hardware/Software available:

  • 1 Letter/A4 Epson Flatbed Scanner
  • 9 Letter/A4 Fujitsu Flatbed Scanners with automatic document feeder

Staff in this space can help with various design needs including image scanning (from print, slides, or negatives) and editing, Web site design, poster and flyer layout, Pdf creation, and Microsoft office and iWork support.

Hours of Availability

Regular fall and spring semester hours Design Lab, R.B. House Undergraduate Library Monday-Thursday: 24 hours - Help available: 9am - 10pm Friday: Close at 6pm - Help available: 9am - 4pm Saturday: 10am - 6 pm - Not Staffed Sunday: 11am - All night - Help available: 1pm - 10pm See current hours – http://www.lib.unc.edu/house/hours/ South Campus Study Commons Monday–Sunday: 8:00am to Midnight – Help available Sunday–Wednesday, 6:00pm–10:00pm

The Design Lab is available to all students, faculty, and staff at UNC. You will need an ONYEN to log into the computers.
