ITS campaigns against illegal file sharing

ITS Information Security is ramping up efforts to curb copyright infringement on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. An extensive campaign warning of the dangers of illegal file sharing was launched for students during move-in weekend and will continue throughout the fall semester for students, faculty and staff.

ITS hosts Information Security Briefing

On Thursday, May 8, ITS Information Security will host an Information Security Briefing for UNC-Chapel Hill IT staff featuring presentations by Oracle, Mandiant, Microsoft, Symantec and the Office of University Counsel. The event will take place from 8 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. in the Sonja Haynes Stone Center. Registration is required.

ITS’ Cameron speaks at Internet Law class

ITS’ William Cameron to present at CTC Update

Carolina Technology Consultants (CTC) will host ITS Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Security, William Cameron, at a “Meet the …AVC of Security” session.

The CTC Update will be on Tuesday, March 25, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Global Education Center Auditorium. Cameron will outline major Information Security initiatives and answer questions from the audience.

Red Hat to present on IT security

Red Hat will offer a security presentation followed by a question-and-answer session on Friday, Jan. 18, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in 08 Peabody Hall. All interested UNC-Chapel Hill staff are invited to attend.

Ovidio DeJesus, Red Hat government solutions architect, will present on open source security foundations, Exec Shield, SE Linux, security best practices and related topics.
