Webmasters to learn about Adobe Flash
May 27, 2008 at 8:19 am | In Events, Features, Instructional NewsThe next Webmasters meeting will feature Jay Almers, Web designer and developer for the School of Journalism, presenting on accessing data-driven objects in Adobe Flash. The meeting will be held on Thursday, June 5, at 2 p.m. in ITS Manning 5102.
For years, Flash has been a sought-after commodity in the world of Web site design and development. Now that the acceptance rate of Flash is substantially higher, it is everywhere - from full-blown sites, to banner advertisements, to media players or simple navigational components. Flash is being used by an increasingly large number of content providers to deliver high-quality rich media to their visitors.

ITS to present on VoiceThread pilot
May 12, 2008 at 9:03 am | In Events, FeaturesCarolyn Kotlas, ITS Teaching and Learning, will demonstrate VoiceThread, an easy-to-use collaborative tool, at the May meeting of the UNC-Chapel Hill Scholarly Communication Working Group. The meeting will take place from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, in room 214 of Davis Library.
ITS Teaching and Learning recently announced the UNC-Chapel Hill VoiceThread Pilot Project, which encourages faculty, staff and students to try the application and apply it to academic uses. All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the meeting and/or participate in the pilot.

Webmasters to host open discussion May 1

The meeting will provide a forum for open discussion, particularly about recent “hot topics” on the listserv such as Flash media server, iTunes and Onyen authentication for Wordpress and Joomla!.
UNC-Chapel Hill Webmasters meets monthly to discuss issues that affect webmasters across campus. Any UNC-Chapel Hill faculty or staff interested in participating can attend the meeting and/or join the listserv.
