Upgrade to affect Oracle calendar services availability
July 18, 2008 at 8:21 am | In Features, ITS AnnouncementsAccess to the UNC Oracle calendar will be unavailable this coming weekend beginning today, Friday, July 18 at 11 p.m. until Sunday, July 20 at noon. During this time all access to the calendar server via Oracle desktop client, Microsoft Outlook connector, Web interface, smartphones and PDA’s via SyncML or desktop conduit will be unavailable.
The UNC campus calendar server (also known as schedule.unc.edu, webcal.unc.edu, calendar.unc.edu, and syncml.unc.edu) will be upgraded during this period to maintain support from the vendor, Oracle.
To ensure that they have any calendar data needed during the upgrade, users should print their events from the calendar, save an off-line copy of their agenda or synch their PDA with the calendar prior to July 18.
Once the upgrade is complete, users will be able to login and use the calendar as before without changing client settings or URLs. The ‘look and feel’ of the new server will remain unchanged except for expanded preferences options for Webcal users.
Please direct any questions or concerns about this scheduled upgrade to the ITS-Response Center at 962-HELP.
