ConsiderIT to discuss writing with new media

Educators know that motivation and a spirit of inquiry translate into better learning. Why, then, is much of the work that takes place in classrooms, especially classrooms that feature writing, seen as uninteresting and uninspiring?

The next ConsiderIT event will offer some answers to this question. “ConsiderIT: Amusing Learning: Easy Paths to New Media Composition and Educational Change” will take place Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 2:30 in Toy Lounge of Dey Hall. Daniel Anderson, associate professor and associate chair in the Department of English and Comparative Literature and director of the Studio for Instructional Technologies and English Studies, will speak.

Computer Repair Center is “Business Class” operation

It started as the Typewriter Shop, servicing and repairing typewriters, Dictaphones and other office machines. Today, the ITS Computer Repair Center (CRC) is one of the largest repair centers in the Southeast, grossing $1 million annually. Its mission is to provide students, faculty and staff with the quickest possible warranty repairs of their CCI-purchased laptops and desktops.

CTC Update to preview WinServer 2008, MS SQL 2008

ITS Desktop Infrastructure and the Carolina Technology Consultants will cohost the next CTC Update, on Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Kevin Dean of Microsoft will present a preview of Win Server 2008 and MS SQL 2008 at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Global Education Center (GEC) Auditorium.

Audience questions are welcome, and ITS Desktop Infrastructure will be on hand after Kevin’s presentation to discuss their latest endeavors, including the new Active Directory structure.

Spam filter FAQ

And recent upgrades allow users to define their own settings to control which messages are trapped and which are forwarded to their e-mail inbox.
