“It will give people several options for managing spam, boosting their productivity while ensuring that mail is handled according to their wishes,” said Judd Knott, assistant vice chancellor for IT Infrastructure and Operations.

ITS facilitates Student Government survey on campus wireless
January 30, 2008 at 9:22 am | In FeaturesITS has helped Student Government design a survey about student satisfaction with the campus wireless network. The survey will determine what services students use and what changes they would like to see regarding wireless Internet and related services.
“We’d like to have feedback on the quality of the existing service and where the coverage holes are from the student perspective,” said Jim Gogan, director of networking. “We’re always looking for ways to get feedback from our user community in terms of where there are issues with the service and where it can be enhanced.”

CBT service reaches 5,000 subscriptions
January 28, 2008 at 10:53 am | In Features, Instructional News, Service UpdatesSince the new computer-based training (CBT) service was implemented at UNC-Chapel Hill in June 2005, more than 5,000 UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, staff and students have subscribed.
The service, offered by CBT vendor ElementK, began by featuring office productivity courses. In 2006, technical courses were added at no additional cost to the University. Now, the CBT service offers thousands of courses on technology, office productivity and business skills.

ITS launches Capture and Collaboration portal

ITS Teaching and Learning has launched an “experiment,” the Capture and Collaboration portal, with hopes to categorize and assess the merits of systems and applications currently being marketed as solutions for lecture capture and student collaboration.
