ITS upgrades videoconference facility

Following a renovation this summer, ITS offers new, updated and fully automated equipment in its teleconference facility, located in Peabody Hall.

The room can connect with up to three other videoconference sites at a time, and if more are required the room can connect to MCNC for unlimited connections. ITS added the latest technology to Peabody 08, including a plasma screen with a SmartBoard overlay, push-to-talk microphones for all participants and assistive listening devices and closed captioning for the hearing impaired.

ResNET provides support and educational programs to campus residents

ITS employees garner University awards for excellence

Two ITS employees were recognized for their outstanding contributions to ITS and the Carolina community at a luncheon on Sept. 24.

Bruce Egan, manager of the ITS Response Center, was honored with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence and the State Employees Award for Excellence, the highest honor a state employee can receive. Joe Bray, applications specialist, received one of just two Excellence in Management Awards.

ITS and HR Training and Development renew CBT pilot

UNC-Chapel Hill Human Resources and Information Technology Services have extended their partnership to bring a library of business-related computer-based training courses to the campus community.

ITS and HR Training and Development initiated a one-year pilot of the program, which adds business training to ITS’ computer-based training (CBT) catalog, last September. With this year’s renewal, the organizations will continue the agreement, which provides approximately 40 business skill CBT courses such as time management, effective communication and strategic plan development.
