January 30, 2007 at 8:27 am | In Features, ITS AnnouncementsOn Wednesday, Jan. 24, representatives from St. John’s University in Queens, N.Y., visited UNC-Chapel Hill to learn more about ITS programs such as the Carolina Computing Initiative (CCI) and compare notes about services such as IT support, networking and messaging.
CIO Joseph Tufano and his executive team visited UNC-Chapel Hill to learn how software and hardware are supported for students, faculty and staff; how the University manages e-mail; and what it is doing to support faculty integration of technology into their curriculums. They met with representatives from the ITS Response Center, the Computer Repair Center (CRC), ITS Messaging and ITS Teaching and Learning.
“UNC employs many best practices when it comes to student mobile computing, and they’re generous enough to share them with other schools who are looking to set up or enhance their computing programs,” said Tim CoyneSmith, certified project executive for Lenovo, who hosted the guests.
About 10 schools tour UNC-Chapel Hill ITS every year. The tours are arranged through Lenovo, the current CCI technology partner, with participation from representatives across ITS who can speak to visitors on a variety of programs and services.
