Partners in Education conference to be held April 3-6

The UNC-Chapel Hill Health Sciences Library will host the Partners in Education conference April 3-6. Topics include but are not limited to RSS, distance collaboration, instructional media and Macromedia Breeze. All events are free of charge and open to the public. Registration is recommended and may be limited for some classes. All events will be held at the UNC Health Sciences Library, located on South Columbia Street in Chapel Hill.

Symposium on blog-related legal issues to take place April 8

On April 8, the 2006 NC Journal of Law and Technology (JOLT) symposium will explore the possible legal problems blogs could cause for both employees and employers. Some questions that will be raised include: How can both be protected? Can and should a company encourage blogging by its employees? What, if any, are the first amendment rights issues? How can an anonymous blogger be dealt with?

ITS research computing cluster goes live

On Monday, March 27, ITS went live with its latest research computing acquisition – a 1,040-processor Dell cluster. The cluster, which will be named Topsail after the North Carolina beach, symbolizes major growth in research computing at UNC-Chapel Hill.

New mass e-mail system available to campus

An improved version of the mass e-mail system rolled out to campus users last Friday, March 24. The new system offers greater ease of use, more selection criteria, context-sensitive help and faster—though not instantaneous—delivery.
