Classroom renovations impact availability

As bond-funded renovations continue, this year many classes and campus organizations will struggle to find classroom space. Jeremiah Joyner, manager of ITS Teaching & Learning’s Classroom Hotline, notes that 15 more classrooms went off-line this semester for renovations, including seven that were already considered technology classrooms.

ITS produces C-SPAN interview for Alito hearings

On Monday, Jan. 9, Tom Cox, Andy Brawn and Steve Kirby of ITS Teaching and Learning produced a live, nationwide interview for C-SPAN with UNC-Chapel Hill law professor Michael Gerhardt about his scheduled role in the Samuel A. Alito hearings. On the following Thursday, Jan. 12, Gerhardt testified during the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearings examining the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Alito. Professor Gerhardt served as an expert witness for the Democrats.

ITS staff improve national ResNet directory

UNC-Chapel Hill ResNet staff Chris Williams and Paul Kamen have upgraded the National ResNet Symposium Directory, which lists all institutions that have submitted information to ResNet. Kamen created a dynamic directory whose benefits now include quick and easy update of information and a more scalable Web page.

Marinshaw named ITS senior research manager

Ruth Marinshaw has been named ITS senior research manager, a new position in the office of the CIO reporting to Dr. Dan Reed. She will support the IT strategic planning process, serve as a liaison to campus groups and organizations and assist with ITS processes.
