Campus mainframe outages planned in June

Franklin St. is scheduled to move into a newly renovated portion of the facility beginning June 1. Because all of the equipment must be physically moved, the move will entail some unavoidable disruption of all campus services provided from that location. Project managers are well aware of the approaching close of the fiscal year and the need to make the transition as smooth as possible. When a detailed schedule for these moves is determined, it will be widely published so that departments can include the downtime in their plans.

Service transition for ITS Franklin Data Center

Because we must physically move all of the equipment at ITS Franklin, there will be an unavoidable disruption of all campus services provided from that location during the move. As the target June date approaches and construction continues, a detailed schedule for these moves will be published.

EPAWeb nears rollout
May 4, 2005 at 12:43 pm | In ITS Announcements, Service UpdatesCurrently, the paperwork for EPA faculty and non-faculty employees is handled either as literal paperwork or through access to the campus mainframe computer, resulting in what UNC’s Human Resources acknowledged to be “an arduous and highly inefficient process…, lengthy, cumbersome and time consuming.”
Enter two project teams from the Human Resources & Payroll group in ITS Enterprise Applications. Add 18 months of hard work et voila–a Web-based interface is in the final stages of testing right now and should be available to all campus by the end of 2005.
