Learn about ITS' role with NC TraCS
October 28, 2009| In News, Instructional News, Research NewsWant to learn more about the role ITS plays at the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences (NC TraCS) Institute? Then be sure to visit the NC TraCS Open House on Friday, Oct. 30 from 1-6 p.m. on the second floor of the Brinkhouse-Bullitt Building.
ITS Research Analysis Consultants Jonathan Pletzke and Pallavi Pratapa will demonstrate the Carolina Data Warehouse for Health at the end of the 2:30 presentation Biomedical Informatics Tools for Researchers: Clinical Data Management and Carolina Data Warehouse-Health and throughout the afternoon. The Warehouse, which contains UNC Healthcare data collected since July 2004, is used for research and quality purposes for various health issues such as diabetes, smoking, asthma and pediatric end of life data.
As part of ITS Research Computing, Pletzke and Pratapa meet with investigators and researchers, learn of their needs and then determine whether or not the Warehouse has the requested data. If so, they then securely provide the necessary information for the investigators’ use. This collaboration represents one of ITS Research Computing’s first outreach efforts to support clinical research at UNC-Chapel Hill.
What is NC TraCS?
The NC TraCS Institute is strategically designed to overcome barriers which have historically been responsible for fragmenting and delaying research efforts. NC TraCS offers targeted, comprehensive and interdisciplinary solutions to investigators in the area of clinical and translational science and is the sole, centralized portal through which researchers may gain access to the resources and services provided through the independent areas of academia known as 'Cores'.
Faculty and staff are welcome to attend the Open House. For additional information, click here.
