General construction of ITS Manning is 80 percent complete. Current projects include elevator installation, ceramic tile installation, first floor drywall and the ceiling grid on the third floor.

CTC Update - Microsoft Windows Vista

Staff of ITS Desktop Infrastructure have invited Kevin Dean, technology specialist for higher education for Microsoft, to make a presentation on Microsoft Windows Vista. The update will take place at Gardner Hall, Room 08 at 2:00 p.m. on June 7.

The presentation will explore some of the key features and functionality of Windows Vista.


ITS staff help make joint program a success

When Dr. Lola Reid, a professor in the Department of Cell and Molecular Physiology and with an adjunct appointment in the Biomedical Engineering (BME) department, learned of a new joint biomedical engineering shared program between North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she and others in the BME department recognized two things: that interactions between biologists and engineers would make for a wealth of potential in courses and research; and the geographical separation between NCSU and UNC-CH would require sophisticated forms of communication to facilitate interactions.

Since Reid was giving a course to students at both campuses, she approached Tom Cox, a distance education specialist in Teaching and Learning, who took to the task with gusto. Continue Reading

Freaky Friday - Memex Metadata project

The Memex Metadata project is a joint SILS and TAP project that explores the application of context awareness to metadata about personal educational archives. The seminal vision for this project is Vannevar Bush’s Memex, which is a notional memory augmentation device that supports storage and retrieval of everything that a user ever sees, hears and reads.

Just a reminder that timesheets, on-call pay and shift premium pay sheets for biweekly #24 ending Sunday, May 28 will be due to the designated boxes or to the ITS business office no later than 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30.

ITS Business Office boxes are located in Giles Horney, the Undergraduate Library, Phillips Hall, Abernethy Hall, Carr Mill Annex and the Administrative Office Building.
