Get Wowed.... with the Novint Falcon!

  • Come see the Novint Falcon, an entirely new way to experience games. The Novint Falcon is an entirely new type of game controller, with 3-D TOUCH technology. Replacing your mouse or joystick, the Falcon is, essentially, a small robot that lets you experience true virtual touch unlike any controller in history. The Novint Falcon lets you control a game in three dimensions, and also lets you feel high-fidelity three-dimensional force feedback. There will also be FREE FOOD and DRINKS!!!!!

ResNET is hosting a Halo 3 Tournament to test your skills against your peers. We'll also be giving a presentation on new F.P.S. games like "Gears of War 2," "Operation Flashpoint 2," and "Left 4 Dead."

Brawl in the Hall

  • In need of a study break? Come check out Super Smash Brothers Brawl in the Craige Coffeehouse where you and a friend can take on other teams to be declared the best Brawler in the Hall. Come with a teammate or join one when you get there. Relive the experience: Make your pictures be 3-D for FREE!

  • Windows Live Photosynth is a new utility that has the ability to reconstruct a place or object from regular, flat photographs. Photosynth creates a virtual, 3-Dimensional environment from anywhere between 2 photographs to 500 photographs. We will demonstrate the use of Windows Live Labs' Photosynth to convert your pictures into these amazing 3-Dimensional environments. We will also instruct you on the ideal way Microsoft recommends taking pictures that will be used to make these "photo synths". Also, Photosynth allows you to share your creation on the Internet so your friends and family can see.

  • We've all heard it before: "You must cite at least five sources; and NO, Wikipedia does not count." What else is there, you might ask? With desperation setting in and a deadline looming, where can you go to find the information you need without wasting your time?

    Your student fees pay for on-campus access to hundreds of online databases, journal archives and e-books. Come learn how to find real sources for your papers without leaving your desk. We'll also look at two websites, RefWorks and Connotea, which help you keep track of them.

Skype gets you connected!

We will demonstrate the use of Skype to make calls to other users of the service, and to landlines and mobile phones both domestically and internationally. Also, to ensure safe and secure computing, we will show you how to follow general best practices for using Skype on the UNC network.
