ITS “green” vehicles provide fast support

Inside ITS Image - Green Vehicle

If you see an unusual car or scooter on the sidewalks or streets of campus, take a second look. You might be viewing an ITS employee racing to help faculty or staff in need of IT support, using an environmentally friendly vehicle. ITS uses "green vehicles" to quickly respond to IT support requests, and recently a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) car joined its fleet of alternative-energy vehicles. In addition to reducing emissions, electric bikes and NEV cars boost customer service by allowing faster response times by ITS staff. The vehicles are used primarily by the ITS Classroom Hotline, which supports and maintains technology in classrooms and often responds within minutes to instructors' requests for classroom IT help. A NEV car is 100-percent battery-electric and environmentally friendly, and it can travel up to 25 miles per hour on most public roads that are posted at 35 mph or less.
