Computer-Based Training expands course offerings

Information Technology Services is pleased to announce that additional technical courses are available to subscribers of the Computer-Based Training (CBT) service. Effective immediately, more than 2,800 courses are available—a significant increase over the approximately 500 courses previously offered.

Free software available to University employees

Did you know that ITS provides free software media to UNC-Chapel Hill students, faculty, staff and visiting scholars? The software is maintained both as a repository of free shareware downloads and licensed software products. Helpful programs include Adobe Acrobat Reader, Mozilla Firefox, Oracle Calendar Client and Symantec Antivirus.

Faculty participate in Tablet PC pilot this fall

Ten faculty members will take part in a pilot program this fall that explores the value of tablet PC technology in teaching and learning. Sponsored by ITS Teaching and Learning and Academic Computing and Systems in the College of Arts and Sciences, the pilot also seeks to build a community of interest in tablet PCs, which are not widely used in classrooms at UNC-Chapel Hill.

ITS upgrades Online Directory for easy updates

A team of ITS staff from Enterprise Applications and Telecommunications have worked together to expand the services of the Enterprise Campus Directory (also known as the Online Directory). The Online Directory now incorporates functions of the printed Campus Directory system, which is being phased out. It also updates some EPA position information automatically using the EPAWeb system.
