Collaboration

The best way of sharing information about issues in security awareness is through communication with peers. Peers can be key liaisons in an organizational unit, or on campus, or in-state, or even nationwide. At UNC-Chapel, the Information Security Office regularly monitors and posts to a number of email lists to facilitate information-sharing and collaboration with peers. In addition, the Information Security Office has its own list, security_outreach@unc.edu, which it maintains for use in disseminating information about emergent and other important topics, as well as its own collaboration site on blackboard.unc.edu, “Information Security Liaisons”. Lastly, the Information Security Office seeks to develop liaisons with other information security staff, whether they be here on campus, at nearby campuses such as Duke and NC State, or even statewide at other constituent members of the UNC university system.
