LearnIT joins Twitter

June 26, 2009| In News, Instructional News

LearnIT is expanding its Web presence by joining Twitter, a micro-blogging service designed to communicate by using "tweets"- updates in 140 characters or less. LearnIT joins Teaching and Learning Interactive as ITS groups providing news and information through Twitter.

Using Twitter, groups can share up-to-date and up-to-the-minute information with their Twitter followers and potentially reach a wider or more diverse audience than they might with more traditional communications.

"ITS Teaching and Learning is always looking for ways to increase our outreach to the campus community," said Elizabeth Evans, academic outreach specialist. "Using Twitter will allow us to 'tweet' short pointers to articles, Web sites, software tools, and other content to help faculty, staff and students find useful information."

The LearnIT Twitter service is now accessible from the LearnIT homepage.

LearnIT provides faculty, staff, and students the opportunity to learn about the use of information technology to increase productivity and to engage in discussions about technology's role and impact on the University mission.

To follow the short postings by these groups in Twitter, search for unc_learnit or TL_Interactive from your Twitter profile, then select the option to "follow." To join Twitter, go to twitter.com to create a profile and get started.
