
A multi-phase project, the Student Data Warehouse is the analytical component of ConnectCarolina. The Student Data Warehouse will provide a repository of student data covering admissions, records, financial aid and account data. These data are stored in a format conforming to data warehouse best practices and are optimized for reporting and analysis.

The TouchNet project represents the University’s effort to assure excellent customer service and security in the acceptance of credit card payments for a broad array of services across campus. Compliance with the mandatory and stringent Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards and the need to minimize the risk of data security breaches makes it necessary for UNC-Chapel Hill to implement a more viable and robust option than the Common Payment System (CPS) now in use.

CarolinaContent, an initiative underway to bring enterprise Web content and document management to the University, will change how Web site design is approached and how content is managed across the University’s online presence. The tool allows Web content and documents to be created, organized, managed and maintained in a centralized and efficient way.

With the implementation of a new student information system, PeopleSoft will track and award student financial aid and scholarship awards (merit and need-based, graduate and undergraduate). In addition, academic departments on campus provide students with funds for a wide array of service and non-service awards ranging from Graduate Research Assistantships to prizes for competitions. These awards are administered by departments throughout campus and must be communicated to the financial aid office.

The PID project was initiated in April of 2008 in an effort to prepare for the migration of person identity data to PeopleSoft. This was a large initiative that touches several different groups and systems. The project was broken into 4 streams whose efforts are defined as follows:
