Windows Active Directory
What is Active Directory?
The Windows Active Directory service provided by UNC-Chapel Hill provides a secure, standards-based infrastructure for Windows domains including authentication, security, management tools, and directory-enabled applications. Active Directory is a directory service used to store information about the network resources-hardware resources, services, and people- across a domain. The AD provides information on the objects, organizes the objects, controls access, and sets security. In support of this central service, ITS staff will work with you in your specific environment and provide various analysis, consultation and support services before and after a migration to the central Active Directory forest.
