Search Engine (Google)
What is the Search Engine Service?
The Search Engine service makes the Google search tool available to users of the UNC-Chapel Hill web site. Considered by many to be the industry standard for searching Web content, the Google Search Appliance (GSA) replaced previous search tools in 2006. While www.google.com already indexes most of the University's Web pages, the GSA resides on the network and can be customized to find documents that would not be found by the regular version of Google.
How to get started with Google Search
Google search is now available by clicking the search link found on the UNC-Chapel Hill home page, or by going directly to the search page at search.unc.edu. For help with using the tool, see the Search Tips.
Departments with customized search forms are encouraged to use the Google tool. For help with this, submit a help request.
