What is Web Hosting?
ITS offers a number of web hosting services, everything from hosting of static content to support for CGI scripts, including Perl and PHP support. More advanced hosting options, such as Java and ColdFusion are available to departments and under certain circumstances. Web statistics and analysis tools are provided through the Urchin system. Streaming media and anonymous FTP services are also available.
Our systems utilize the Solaris and the Linux operating systems with the Apache web server. Open source products and protocols are highly preferred. We do not support ASP.
How to Get Started
Basic web hosting and associated file space are provided with every Onyen account. Please consult help.unc.edu for instructions on using web space for group or individual pages.
