Games as an interactive classroom technique

Join in a discussion focusing on an article from the International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, "Games as an Interactive Classroom Technique: Perceptions of Corporate Trainers, College Instructors and Students" on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 12:00 p.m. in the Incubator Room in Hyde Hall.

The article describes a two-part study that measures perceptions of interactive classroom teaching for adult learning. The two main objectives were to determine rates of classroom techniques used and to determine influences on teaching styles. The article makes suggestions for strategies to implement games in college classrooms.

What’s up with ITS Teaching and Learning Interactive?

This fall has been a busy one for ITS Teaching and Learning Interactive (TLI).

TLI recently completed work on four multimedia modules for the UNC Institute on Aging. The Institute is based at UNC-Chapel Hill but is a state-wide organization. Faculty members who served as content experts for the modules hailed from numerous universities across the 17-campus system. The modules, each of which is approximately 20 minutes in length, provide continuing education and professional development on the following topics: dementia, successful aging, financial resources in retirement, and evidenced-based program development.  Participants can print a completion certificate for their records after finishing a module and passing a quiz.

November IAIG meeting
