Vannevar Bush's Memex, which is a notional memory augmentation device that supports storage and retrieval of everything that a user ever sees, hears and reads.

Summary
ITS Manning will be the first completely new facility built for UNC-Chapel Hill Information Technology Services. Its state-of-the-art machine room sets a new standard for educational computing facilities across the state, with a high-tech machine room augmented by its location at the center of campus, at the hub of the campus network infrastructure and connected to the largest chilled-water line on campus. The building's power grid will be fueled by dual substations, maintaining a system of uninterruptible electrical feed similar to the one used by UNC Hospitals.
ITS Manning is scheduled to open in January 2007.

He will then explore those things that have the most impact on developers in the real world, examining several of the key technical aspects, while trying to see how the more "lofty" concepts can help us all create better Web applications.
