OHR seeking Second Life project participants

UI for web applications topic for May Webmasters meeting

Star Heel nominations deadline extended

The deadline for Star Heel Award nominations has been extended to Friday, April 17. “We know that there are many ITS employees who richly deserve this award,” said Leslie Kreizman, ITS Employee Council chair. “ITS has been allocated these awards based on the total number of permanent employees within the organization. If we don’t use these awards, we will lose them.”

Specifications for the newest generation of Carolina Computing Initiative (CCI) laptop models are now available. For the first time, there are four CCI laptop options. The ThinkPad X200 was added this year as a lightweight laptop option to complement the R400, W500 and X200 Tablet options. All four laptop models include integrated Bluetooth 2.0, Wireless (802.11 a/g/n) network adapters, a 1.3 megapixel Web cam and a Biometric Fingerprint Reader.

ITS hosts School of Medicine servers

When Dennis Schmidt received requests for additional server space, he knew that he had to find a creative solution to the severe lack of server room space at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine. As director of the School of Medicine’s Office of Information Systems, Schmidt was all too familiar with the need and the associated challenges.

After a tour of ITS Manning’s data center, Schmidt was so impressed with the facilities that he began exploring the idea of ITS hosting School of Medicine servers.
