ITS Teaching and Learning has scheduled a demonstration of the open source portfolio (OSP) product that is part of the Sakai development effort. The demo will take place Thursday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. until noon in 08 Peabody Hall. All interested faculty and staff are invited to attend.

ERP vendor demo dates announced

The ERP RFI vendor demonstration schedule has been finalized. The first vendor to visit Carolina will be Oracle/PeopleSoft, which will demonstrate its product Nov. 7 to 10. The SunGard/Banner demo will take place Nov. 13 to 16. The SAP demo will be held Nov. 28 to Dec. 1.

Update: Lenovo battery exchange begins Monday, Oct. 30

Faculty, staff and students with CCI laptops affected by the Lenovo battery recall may bring their recalled battery to the ITS Response Center in the basement of the Undergraduate Library beginning Monday, Oct. 30 to receive their new battery. It is not necessary to bring the laptop for the battery exchange.

ITS announces contract for next generation 911 VoIP location services

ITS Telecommunications has signed a contract with Intrado, Inc. in Longmont, Colo., for deployment of next generation 911 services. The contract is part of a development effort that will allow VoIP users on campus to move their telephones or roam with WiFi VoIP phones and remain traceable by public safety officials responding to VoIP 911 emergency calls. The service is being built on top of a developing location services infrastructure effort to enable generic location aware applications.
