Web Services

Our Focus

Web Services works to advance the University’s academic mission and strategic goals by creating an effective, compelling and technologically advanced Web presence for ITS and University customers. To accomplish this goal, the team leverages emerging Web technologies and Web content management tools to develop and maintain Web sites for the University community.

Web Site Design and Development Services

ITS Knowledge Base

The support knowledge base is a large collection of technical support documents. The document collection is maintained by staff in various ITS divisions. Documents are managed through the CarolinaContent system which replaced the Knowledge Management Tool (KMT) in 2009. The support knowledge base is publicly accessible online at help.unc.edu.

help.unc.edu

The help and support site – help.unc.edu - is an application which provides a centralized point of access to information technology support at UNC-Chapel Hill. This support includes written documentation (tutorials, FAQ's, policies, etc.), troubleshooters and references to other resources and services. Through search and navigation tools, users can find and apply solutions to meet their technology needs, allowing them to increase their technical abilities through self-education.

CarolinaContent

CarolinaContent, an initiative underway to bring enterprise Web content and document management to the University, will change how Web site design is approached and how content is managed across the the University’s online presence. The tool allows Web content and documents to be created, organized, managed and maintained in a centralized and efficient way. To learn more, visit the CarolinaContent project Web site.
