Linking to Sections

A section is a link in the left navigation on a CarolinaContent Web site. From the Link Wizard in the web-based editor, you can find and select any section in any of the sites that are in the CarolinaContent system.

To link to a section, first navigate to your contribution environment and log in. Click the Edit Region Content icon to open the editor. Highlight the text that you would like to add a link to and select the Insert Hyperlink icon. Once the Link Wizard dialog opens, select “Link to a section” and click Next >.

Select the Web site that you would like to link to from the drop down menu, and choose the section by click on it. In the example below, The Web site is Training Site, and the section is Bob Vila. Click Next > to proceed.

Choose Path Based URL in the next window. Click Next > to proceed.

Note: Selecting the “Generate Relative Path” checkbox will create a link that is respective to the location where the link exists – in some cases this will cause the link to break if the content item is used in other sections of your site (e.g. Resources list).
Note: The Path Based URL step has been removed from the Link Wizard on some Web sites.

In the next window, check the Open link in new window box and select _blank to have the link open in a new window. Click Finish to apply the link. Click the Save (Update) icon to commit the changes to the content.
