Revisions & Deleting Content

Every time you update and save a piece of content, the content server will create a new revision of that file. When a new revision of the file is created, it is duplicated and sent from the Contribution server (where you created or changed it) to the Consumption server, where site visitors will view it.

Every 30 days, old revisions will be purged from the Consumption server to save space. All revisions will remain on the Contribution server.

To view a revision other than the current one, click the number in the Revision column for the version you would like to see.

You can delete individual revisions to roll back to a previous version of a file, or undo saved changes. To delete a revision navigate to that content item's information page in content server. Scroll to the bottom of the page where the revisions are listed (in order with time-stamps). Click Delete next to the revision you wish to remove.

To delete a content item entirely you will need to delete all revisions. If there are several revisions you will have to delete them one at a time. If there are too many revisions to delete manually, please submit a Remedy request to "ITS-ITS.UNC.EDU WEBSITE".
