Unplanned Outage
Due to a problem with a database unrelated to the UNC-CH Blackboard system but hosted on the same server, Blackboard will most likely be unavailable to all users for approximately 45 minutes to an hour. We anticipate that the downtime would take place tonight, sometime between midnight and 7 am on Sunday, December 17th. During this time the server that hosts the Blackboard database, among others, will be restarted. More information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.

Bug/Problem
It has come to our attention that some Blackboard sites are experiencing duplicates of item categories, grade display options, and total columns in their Gradebooks.
Although the likelihood of this affecting grades is minimal, we encourage everyone who is using Blackboard's Gradebook as their main repository and grade calculation tool to double check the accuracy of their data to avoid potential problems.
A fix has already been applied to prevent duplicates from happening in the future, and another fix will be run at 12 noon on December 19th, 2006 to clean up the Blackboard sites showing duplicates. This event will not affect user activity and will not require a downtime of the Blackboard system. We remind users that it is best practice to keep a backup of your Gradebook and we encourage users to do so before noon, December 19th, 2006.
