Old Blackboard sites scheduled for deletion.

November 13, 2008 | In Service Notices , Upgrade/Maintenance Period As part of the yearly maintenance of the UNC-CH Blackboard system, this fall ITS will delete:
  • Blackboard sites created for courses listed with the University Registrar for the semesters prior to Fall 2006
  • Blackboard sites created for courses listed with the University Registrar for the semesters between Fall 2006 and Summer 08, which don't have content* and haven't had activity since September 07
  • Blackboard sites created by request before August 2006 for either teaching or non-teaching purpose, and
  • Blackboard sites with the word (RESTORED) in the name or the extension .RES in the course ID
Blackboard sites available to students as of November 13, 2008 will not be targeted for deletion even if created within the timeframes mentioned above. Actions: 1) Go to the old sites targeted for deletion checker to see the list of your old sites targeted for deletion. 2) If there are sites on that list that should *not* be deleted, use the deletion checker to submit site exemptions. The deadline to submit site exemptions is Sunday, December 14, 2008. 3) Make your own backup copy of a Blackboard site if you wish to keep a local copy of any of the sites targeted for deletion. Note that, once old sites are deleted they will no longer be available to users and it will not be possible to fulfill site restoration requests. * Blackboard site with no content is  defined as a site which has no content added by site users, whether Instructor, TA, Student, etc.

Attention! Please note that the service downtime scheduled for Wednesday, November 26, 2008 will begin at 6 AM (instead of 7 AM). It is expected to be completed by 11 AM as previously announced.

November 7, 2008 | In Service Notices , Upgrade/Maintenance Period From 6 AM to 11AM on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, https://blackboard.unc.edu will be unavailable to users. During this time ITS will apply an Oracle security patch to the Blackboard database. We apologize for the inconvenience.
