Blackboard Enrollments and Site Creation Calendar
STUDENT ENROLLMENTS
Student enrollments are usually entered into Blackboard sites one or two weeks before the classes begin. To check student enrollments for the upcoming semester before they are added to Blackboard, please visit Faculty Central.
Student enrollments for the fall 2009 semester will be added to Blackboard by 8 AM beginning August 14, 2009.
Note that after this date and time, information related to new student enrollments or changes to existing enrollments will not become effective in the Blackboard system until the next sync between Blackboard and the Student Information System (SIS). This sync takes place daily, 3 times a day (at approximately 7AM, 12 noon and 5PM). This is because the SIS is the system where student and faculty enrollments and course information resides, and from there the information is pushed to the Blackboard System.
Remember! Instructors must make the Blackboard course site available to students before students can access the course site. Instructions for making course sites available can be found at http://help.unc.edu/?id=5227.
SITE CREATION AND INSTRUCTOR ENROLLMENTS
Sites for all courses listed with the University Registrar are created automatically, several months prior to the start of each semester. Individuals who are listed as instructors of record or instructors with 0% responsibility in the Student Information System (SIS) are automatically granted access to these sites as soon as they are created.
Generally:
- Sites for summer school courses are created by the end of January.
- Sites for fall courses are created by mid-February.
- Sites for spring courses are created by mid- to late September.
Courses and instructors for spring 2010 semester will be added to Blackboard beginning mid September, 2009.
Note that after the date when sites are created, information related to new instructor enrollments or changes to existing enrollments will not become effective in the Blackboard system until the next sync between Blackboard and the Student Information System (SIS). This sync takes place daily, 3 times a day (at approximately 7AM, 12 noon and 5PM). This is because the SIS is the system where student, faculty enrollments and course information resides, and from there the information is pushed to the Blackboard System. The same principle applies in the case of courses added to the Registrar after the Blackboard sites for that semester have been created.
