Earlier this summer ITS welcomed Susan Kellogg as our new Associate Vice Chancellor and Deputy Chief Information Officer in Information Technology Services (ITS).  Susan has served as the Associate Dean for Information Technology at the Kenan-Flagler Business School since 2003.  In that time, Susan has also served as a lecturer in the Masters of Accounting Program and as a project advisor for several research grants on Cyber Security.  Additionally, Susan served as a member of the UNC-CH Information Technology Executive Council (ITEC), working with ITS on a number of institutional projects and priorities.

In her Deputy Chief Information Officer role in ITS, Susan joins the Information Technology Services Senior Leadership Team, reporting to CIO Chris Kielt. Susan’s Deputy CIO portfolio includes IT communications and web services, IT governance, IT strategy, vendor relations and vendor management, as well as Information Security and IT compliance.  Susan also leads key institutional initiatives and represents UNC-CH in various local, state, and national initiatives.

Susan has more than twenty-five years of experience across all areas of technology. Prior to joining the business school in 2003, she worked for Progress Energy as a manager and technology architect creating the corporate technology strategy with the company’s chief technologist and managing many major infrastructure components of this Fortune-500 company. Susan’s previous experience included several roles of increasing responsibility with GlaxoSmithKline (formerly GlaxoWellcome) where she also co-chaired an international committee on corporate Internet standards. Early in her career, she worked in military technology, gaining broad experience in technology standards and security. Kellogg earned a BS in Computer Science from UNC-Chapel Hill and a MS in Computer Science from the University of Colorado.
